Here we found some of the biggest trees I’ve seen. Not a patch to the Redwoods found in the USA, but still big by my standards. We’ve only been to this area twice and I would love to visit again. The reserve has a swathe of indigenous sub-tropical forests that hugs the base of Hanglip. Hanglip (“hanging lip”) is a rather conspicuous mountain peak that rises 1719 meters just outside Louis Trichardt. Hanglip Forest Reserve has 340 hectares of forest, hiking paths, mountain streams and numerous birds.
