tl;dr — watch it, you're welcome
it wasn't what i expected, for plenty of reasons. at the beginning, you may think the premise is dumb, and it probably is, but this show is such a great mix of action and soul. weird, since retribution is its main theme.
every episode took a turn i wasn't expecting it to take, while being great in their own way. from animated john wick, to a mythical tale of tragedy, to shrek (mostly talking about the talkative friend character).
while i think the show is really pretty, i still don't love the 3d animation. not every show gets arcane's budget and time, i guess. the ending is.. interesting. won't spoil anything here, but it kinda implies the story moves beyond these eight episodes, and i have no clue how they'll make it work 😅
it's fun action in exaggerated situations, sexual tension, and pretty art in 17th century japan. solid 8/10 imo, might go higher after a rewatch.
