In the middle of filming, the owner of the company, who was watching the shoot through a monitor, walked into the room, pulled me aside, and fired me on the spot because he said I was “too fat”. I had been doing personal work on body image, and I liked being beefy, but it felt like a walk of shame—putting my clothes on with the crew being completely silent, and leaving the studio. Later, my friends and I had a good laugh, and I was fortunate to have their support. I’m so happy that our community has evolved to be much more welcoming of different body types, age, ethnicities and genders. We’ve come a long way, but there’s more positive growth that we can be doing and I hope you’re a part of that 💜💜💜
