Added 2023-12-01 14:59:00 +0000 UTCpizza set with @flourfolly 🍕 very stoked on how this set came out! // so fun story…this opportunity came out bc a guy I was planning to shoot with a couple summers ago flaked hard on me and as a way to make it up he gave my name to an Italian photographer who was planning to come to the city. Turns out this photographer also happens to be the founder of a zine I have already been published in - the world is so small! I don’t live in the city so I had to make the 3 hour commute to get to Flour and at the time my phone was completely fucked, it basically would only work if it was directly plugged into a power source so I had an external battery hooked up so I could use my gps to get there. Well, about two hours into the drive my phone decided to shit the bed, I had no idea where I was exactly or the rest of the way there so I pulled over and got a coffee. I had my iPad with me but it only connects to WiFi and the battery was about dead as well, just enough left for me to connect to WiFi and send my friend a message about my circumstances- then I decided to journal bc I was trying to not panic, thinking okay I can probably find my way home and at least I’ll be safe even if I can’t make the shoot :( but the last line in my journal that I wrote was “or maybe my phone will turn back on” …and it DID! so wild. Literally right as I closed the book the phone turned back on and I was able to make it to the shoot! Honestly it was one of my favorite nights recently and the photos came out so so so good, these are just a couple to start but PROMISE you wanna see the rest. We shot film and digital, both inside a pizza shop and outside in the surrounding areas. There were three photographers total so I’m expecting a LOT of images back but these are the first ones I got, shot by Alessandra of Bad Seed Zine. Sometimes things just work out even when you think you should give up. These are the times that remind me why I do this, and why I keep doing this.
