My birthday is in less than two weeks! I think I’m gonna be a lil more transparent about my income here, because I’ve been having a rough month financially and I also want to dispel some common myths about OF creators’ income. Sharing all this is going to be a bit vulnerable because a lot of people don’t like seeing SWers “whining” or “begging” and sometimes sharing how little $ we make is seen that way. I’m a bit scared being honest will lose me subscribers. I also don’t want anyone to tip me out of pity, I want tips because you genuinely enjoy my content. Tl;dr most of us are struggling. Also first want to say that if you’re reading this thank you and THANK YOU for being subscribed!! You are already supporting me & my work and even if you aren’t able to tip extra that is so, so appreciated. There are literally thousands of people who consume my free media on my socials and never give me a dime. I appreciate you all 🖤 So June is looking like the first month in a few that my income will be less than it was the previous month. My goal for June is $2500 and I’m $600 away. This is from ALL my platforms, not just OF. OF makes up about half of my SW income. That goal is before taxes and after the sites I use take their 20-40% cut. I’ve never made $2500 in a month, and even if I did every month I’d make $30k/year before taxes. I make even less - about 2/3 less - from my vanilla job, so porn is not a side hustle or supplemental income for me. It’s my primary income. Granted I am in a 2-income household which absolutely helps, and I am not struggling as much as some. Like I said, transparency. That said, I don’t feel $30k/year is reflective of the time and work I put into my content. I love making porn more than anything I’ve ever done but it is hard to not make what you feel your labor is worth. A small handful of creators are raking it in, but most of us work near-constantly for very little. And most of the work is behind the scenes, and there’s a lot of it! Editing & queueing content, budgeting & bookkeeping, personal care & upkeep, promoting on social media, watermarking content, creating thumbnails & descriptions, so much more. And there are unseen expenses like hosting my own domain, paying a DMCA takedown service to remove my stolen content, etc. The idea that this is easy money couldn’t be farther from the truth. It’s as hard as being self-employed in any other industry, and sometimes harder because of the amount of suppression SWers face on social media. I think I’m sharing all of this because 1. Being so far from my June goal. 2. I have had a string of unexpected expenses recently that have left me feeling demoralized about my financial future, and feeling inspired to be brutally honest with you all. This post isn’t me asking any of you to compromise your financial situation for my sake. If you can and want to tip, I always appreciate it.
