Herman Melville's Moby-Dick was written (all 600+ pages of it) way back in the 1850s and told the tale of a sailor chasing after an infamous whale for revenge. It fell flat at the time but is since regarded as a piece of classic American literature.
Moby-Dick was inspired by a real-life whale, Mocha Dick. The name comes from Mocha Island, off the coast of Chile, followed by how you'd refer to a male stranger (think "like any Tom, Dick or Harry.") and in this case, Dick was the name chosen.
It doesn't have anything to do with the part of your body that'll be hard from watching the video I made after I took off this costume, but it's a fun play on words and I figured you'd enjoy it too. 💋
I'm wearing a vintage replica costume (likely made in the 1950s) that was intended to look like what sailors wore around the time Moby Dick was published up until about 1910.
