Impostor syndrome part 1 People with impostor syndrome believe that they are deceivers who mislead others. They often feel convinced that they will soon be exposed and seen as incompetent in their field. When it comes to models and content creators, such individuals may compare themselves to others and believe that those individuals are more talented and deserving of their success. For example, I sometimes feel guilty and think that I don't deserve the kind treatment and support I receive from my fans. I feel that I just got lucky and there are many more deserving models out there. However, I am working on overcoming these feelings and understand the underlying reasons for this syndrome. One sociocultural factor is that when a person grows up in a society where acknowledging one's achievements in public is considered boasting, and where "authority knows best" in determining a person's capabilities, the individual may fail to notice their own successes. Another factor is the system of evaluations and comparisons. For example, someone might say, "What's so difficult about taking photographs? It's just a couple of clicks. Try finding a real job or becoming a real model; that's where real success lies." Such comments can cause doubt in one's own success, making them believe that they only achieved something due to luck. Finally, fear of making mistakes can be a part of impostor syndrome.
