Recently, I posted a series on clients' motivations for visiting brothels. Now, let’s take a closer look at sex workers' motivations. What may seem obvious can turn out to be a more complex and broader issue.
If we say it’s just for the money, that’s a very narrow statement—everyone works for money. Think about yourself; would you do your job if you weren’t being paid for it? Of course not. Yes, some of us are lucky enough to get paid for something that we enjoy, but does that apply to a cashier in a hypermarket or a factory worker? Many people actually do their jobs only for the money.
However, the motivations for women to become sex workers are, in fact, much broader. Here’s a list of various motivations I’ve identified and named not so obviously, and in the coming days, I’ll explain and describe each category in detail:
