2022-01-29 03:25:15 +0000 UTC View PostDay 6/18 Colombia 🇨🇴: I Was Put on the Wrong Boat in Cartagena + Had to Stay on the Tour All Day 😭 On my first full day in Cartagena, I wake up early to get ready for a solo day trip to the island, Playa Blanca, where I planned to relax & photo shoot some new content all day. I booked a boat to Playa Blanca only through Jhony Tour & arrived at the pier at the time I was told. About an hour into the boat ride, I noticed the boat was taking us to all these other places, but the guide was speaking in Spanish so I couldn’t understand what he was saying. As we continued to make numerous other stops, I finally asked the guide what was going on. He told me I was on a full day tour with snorkeling & multiple island stops and that the tour company I booked with had put me on the wrong boat. I contacts the tour company I booked with and not only would they not make it right to get me to the destination I paid for, they also would not give me a refund. And because we were out in the ocean, I had no choice but to stay on this tour for its entirety. And to top it off, I’m my vulnerable state, I got hustled by the massage ladies on the beach. On the walking tour, I learn about the history of Cartagena, see some monkeys 🙊 , a sloth 🦥 & a massive iguana 🦎 completely in the wild, & take in all the beautiful street art & murals! 🎨

After brunch Caro mentions they’re doing the tour of COMUNA 13 & says there’s 1 more spot available & encourages me to come along! After a really solid Friday night party with new friends in Medellin 🇨🇴, I wake up to forage for vegan food not having eaten much the past 2 days. One easy but nutritious vegan travel staple I like to make is overnight oats, so I spend a rainy Saturday afternoon in Medellin hunting for gluten-free rolled oats (which turned out to be a lot more challenging than I anticipated! 🤦♀️). Retrieving my oats I head back to my hostel, Los Patios, to make them & eat some leftovers. While hanging in the common area, I run into Caro from Switzerland & we get to chatting.
