Girls' night at the arcade hits different.The glow of neon, the pulse of retro beats, the laughter that bubbles up between sips of something sweet. We step inside, a trio of trouble wrapped in leather and lip gloss, and suddenly, we’re new again—only now, we know exactly how to use our power.

I go first, sliding a token into the air hockey table. The cold metal of the mallet hums against my palm, and I lock eyes with Mia across the table. She smirks. I smirk back. The puck flies—fast, reckless, electric. Every sharp rebound is met with cheers, taunts, and a playful flick of hair over bare shoulders. When I score, I make a show of biting my lip, just because I know she’s watching.

Lena’s at the claw machine, her soft curses laced with giggles as she tries (and fails) to grab the pink plushie in the corner. “This thing’s rigged,” she pouts, tossing her hair over one shoulder. I slide up behind her, fingers grazing her wrist as I take the controls. “Watch and learn, baby.” One swift motion—drop, grab, lift. The claw shakes, but the prize is ours. When I hand it to her, her smile is worth more than the entire arcade.

We bounce from game to game—shooting zombies in heels, racing pixelated cars with reckless abandon, screaming when the DDR machine turns up the tempo. My heart races from more than just the high scores. The scent of cotton candy lingers in the air, mingling with our perfume, our laughter, the unspoken energy crackling between glances and playful touches.

By the time we step out into the cool night, my cheeks are aching from smiling. The world outside feels a little less vibrant compared to the electric chaos we just left behind. But as Mia loops her arm through mine and Lena leans her head on my shoulder, I realize—tonight, we were the neon.

My brain has been buzzing with lyrics all day, little phrases dancing in my head between errands, teasing me like a lover’s whisper. And now, it’s time to let them spill.

I tap my pen against my lips, playing with words, teasing out a melody in my head. Something sultry, something playful—just like the way the late afternoon light kisses my skin. The inspiration is there, stretching its arms, waking up. I hum a few lines, scribble them down, cross one out, add another.

Music is such a flirt, isn’t it? It plays hard to get, but when it finally gives in, ohhh, it’s magic. And I have a feeling today, the words and I are about to have a lot of fun together.
