good morning! change of plans: let’s switch spicy saturday for sultry sunday. I’m having a lot of anxiety about scheduling spicy saturday’s video to send out while I’m out. usually, 4K videos take 80000 years to process and sometimes they don’t even send. i end up having to restart the sending process over when that happens. i’d much rather sit with my anxiety at home and watch the video send tomorrow than be anxious all night while i’m out. i hope this is ok 🄺

Fun fact #5 : How to Get Better Sleep I know I’ve talked about this before, but we have some new faces on my feed! So, sleep. Why should you trust what I say? Ever since becoming sick with multiple autoimmune diseases, I’ve been almost obsessive over figuring out how to live our most optimal lives. Why was I so sick at 24? Why was this happening to me? A lot of my research has come down to sleep. No diet or exercise regimen can cancel out the detrimental effects of sleeping like crap. But my REAL passion lies within the science before the most nutritious foods on this planet. Turns out, a healthy diet helps you sleep better. In turn, sleeping better will help you to eat better. It's a feedback loop that you want to work in your favor. Anyways, most people in western society get insufficient sleep (& especially restorative deep sleep). Researchers are now discovering just how damaging that is. Why? One reason is that deep sleep is like a power washing for your brain. During deep sleep, every 20 seconds or so your brain is flushed with cerebrospinal-fluidĀ (a liquid that flows through the brain and spinal cord). This power washing cycle is able to clear beta-amyloid from the brain -- the plaqueĀ that may be responsible for Alzheimer's. And now studies show that people with Alzheimer's tend to have fewer slow waves produced by deep sleep. Some other benefits of deep sleep include: - Increase in energy - Reduced fatigue - Cell regeneration - Increased bloood flow to muscles & recovery - Growth & repair of tissue and bones - Strengthening of the immune system If you are not sleeping enough, your health will be suboptimal. PERIOT. I don’t care how many marathons you run, how many veggies you eat, or how many weights you can pick up and put down. The problem is that almost everything in western society today prevents you from getting a good night's sleep. :D Here are my tips to getting a better night sleep: • 30 minute walk in the sun each morning (to set your circadian rhythm. Vitamin D is also important for sleep). • Exercise daily • No blue light 2 hours before bed (if you're on your computer use blue light blockers) • Turn off all overhead lights 2 hours before bed • Magnesium glycinate before bed • Don't eat within 4 hours of bedtime (my cut off • Cool room (preferably 69 degrees or below) • Dark room with blackout curtains • Unplug all electronics in your bedroom (especially a router if it's in there) • White noise machine (or dead silence) • Meditate for 10 minutes before bed • Eat a nutrient-dense diet: nutrient deficiencies can disturb sleep patterns • Eat beef liver! Beef liver is loaded with many vitamins that optimize sleep & brain health by reducing inflammation.

Supplement companies profit off of sick people who are sick because they’re eating the SAD (standard American diet) or honestly vegan. Vegans have to take a lot of supplements…The majority of Americans arent eating nutrient-dense foods causing their genes to flip TF out. (for example, did you know, including riboflavin in your diet helps turn off the MTHFR gene mutation? the more you know...) Always, supplements are heavily processed foods. They are usually capped in some form of a ā€œhealthyā€ plant capsule but turn your pill bottle over and read the words out loud. Can you pronounce them? If you can’t pronounce it, don’t put it in your body. Chances are your body can’t process it. Another dark side to supplements is omega 3’s. The oil that omega 3 is in (and a lot of other supplements like vitamin d) are rancid. They’re highly oxidized, not only leaving you without the nutrient you think you’re ingesting, but the oxidation is causing MASSIVE inflammation. The more of this inflammation that builds up, the worse your health becomes.

Fun fact #3: I hate spending money. I’m one of those. The type to save for emergencies I didn’t used to be like this but I think COVID messed with me a bit. Saving for my health is my top priority right now but it can’t be that way forever or else im going to miss out on opportunities, you know? I need to shake this fear that 1. my income will be taken away from me at any moment 2. my health will he taken away from me at any moment. 3. both of these at the same time... I think it has a lot to do with my parent’s relationship with money. We didn’t talk about how much we had as a family, but we all knew and could feel when things were tough. And seeing (and feeling) two people I love most in this world stress about money ever since I was a little girl makes me want to never ever spend money on anything meaningless. I guess the word meaning is different for everyone, and I most certainly use the term to sabotage pleasurable things and the dopamine rush you get when you buy a new bag or some cute shoes. I’ve been working on it in therapy a bunch and recently my therapist gave me homework to buy something nice for myself after a really intense trauma session. So I bought this robe! I can justify it’s value and the pleasure it will bring to my life. It will be perfect for no screen Mondays when I do my face masks and meditate with a hair mask in. So then in my mind, it was worth the price point. I think. Maybe. Do you like it?
