To celebrate my month of trying really hard I present to you a far shooter named conzo. Pew pew. I’m laying out a challenge for myself to not neglect one job for the sake of another and to try and find balance. It means I’ll have to ask for help on some of my other tasks but I can’t spin all these plates alone

A wee update about how the money is being used from the campaign! We found a farmer who agreed to cut the fields and take the bails away, they cut the grass and uplifted it all (it was shit I don’t think they can do anything with it or sell it but I have a sneaking suspicion they might of done one over on us). We paid 912 pounds for the fuel it took to do it, and that’s that. Sadly they left the bails which is kind of shit but a learning experience. But we have like 3 big ass freshly cut fields and a plan for them so we’re pretty happy! We’re also using that money to pay a soil consultant to see if we can use the bales to spread out or if that will just increase weeds. This was really helpful as the money I’ve saved up for this thing is going towards paying the planning application fee of 5k, the architect for 4.7k (ish), the civil engineer 6k, solar panel installation of 5k, construction of site 20-30k, staff accommodation 50-60k. These are big numbers, and we don’t have all that saved up, but we got time and we’re in a better starting space than most first year charities! So having dedicated money to help on this project was amazing, thank you! What I’ll do better next time as director: not get so intimidated by their experience and have myself in a situation where I’m desperate for help. I’ll state clearly what work needs done and won’t pay anything until it is done, contracts and written agreements are a must. I’m a people pleaser so I’m quick to make sure I’m the only one who is inconvenienced by a situation so I’ll go out of my way to pay people. I can’t do that as a charity and have to know when to stand my ground. If I could do it again I’d wait til all the work is done to ensure what we talked about is finished before payment is sent.

Todays post is a little different because, and honestly I’m scared to even try this, I need a wee bit of help. The old owner left around 30+ old rotten waterlogged haylage packs on the property and I’m left to deal with them. What we’ve been doing is to push them into the field and open them up, roll them out, and spread them to decompose. This is one hell of a job and I can only manage about 1-2 a day. I’m looking to rent out some heavy equipment to be able to do this all in one go but the price is a bit high, specially with all the other things we’ve planned to spend it on. So if you tip on this post I’ll send you a voice note telling you how thankful I am and if you’d like I’ll follow you on any socials you want! (Not too sure if that’s something people want.) The goal I’m trying to reach is 1000 dollars, but even 10 dollars towards it would be amazing. Thank you all so much x
