This is such a sad story. I have a new girl in the club. Her name is Juliet; she is 23. She has been a bit distant, so I didn't put pressure on her with the talks. It usually takes some time for them to open up a little bit. Today she came to my office and told me her story. First off, at the age of 19, she was almost beaten to an unlivable state by her fanatically religious father, all because she had sex and wasn't married. But worse, recently, she had breast cancer. She needed surgery. But now the cancer has come back again, and she needs 15 thousand euros for another surgery, which is why she came to our club. Normally in Europe, we have public insurance, so it's not a big deal. They will perform your surgery for free in almost any European country. She apparently comes from a country where they don't have public insurance⦠I assured her that in this business, especially with her appearance, she will make that money in less than one week. I hope she will. But it was such a touching story. She told me: "I am happy, actually. I woke up today, so I have another day being alive, isn't that nice?" Even though I have been in this business for such a long time, stories like this always make me emotional.
Oh, I hate these farewell parties at work. One of our long-time girls called it quits β she's finished with the job. So, as always, the other girls throw a huge party for her β lots of emotions, lots of tears, lots of goodbyes, and kisses. For me, it's hard to pretend that I'll never see the girl again. I know I will. In 90 percent of these cases, the girls who quit end up coming back in less than a month. It will be the same with this Claudia. The story is always the same β she finds some job outside the sex business, but in a few months, she's back saying, "Kathy, I just can't do the normal job. Such ridiculous money, so much work, and such a stupid boss. Screw it, I want my bitch career back!" :)))
πΊπΈ π The Difference Between the US and the EU sex industry πΊπΈ π
I decided to write a longer post comparing the sex industry in the US and the EU, so here we go:
1) The size of the whole industry β In the US, sex work is only fully legal in one state, Nevada, where brothels are legal. In Europe, there are several countries where it is legal. It is estimated that in Germany alone, there are around 3,000 legal establishments. In Amsterdam, for example, an entire part of the city is dedicated to such businesses, and they are very common in city centers. In the US, brothels must be far from city centers; for example, the nearest club to Las Vegas is about an hour's drive away and they are literally in the middle of nowhere. From what I know, I would say that the size of the US sex work agencies, independent workers, and outdoor sex work is roughly the same as in the EU, but what varies hugely are the clubs/brothels.
2) Price β The price in the US is far more expensive (about 10 times more, for example) in the clubs than in the EU clubs. Girls in well-known German cities like Frankfurt (which is basically one big red-light district:) ) sell basic services for as little as $40. Don't think that only the least attractive girls charge this price β most girls in this industry in Europe are from Eastern Europe and are some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Some are truly 10/10, model-like types, and still, their services cost around $50. Also, it is far more common for the girls to have about 20 customers per day, whereas in the US, given the price of the service, the girls don't need to have as many customers to make money.
3) The normality β Here in the EU, it is quite normal to use these types of services. First of all, the brothels are part of the city and are visible. Second, the price is not astronomical, so everybody can afford it. Given the more hedonistic approach towards sexuality here in the EU, it is not a big deal to visit these clubs. Guys often go there after sports events to hang out, have a drink, and chill out. It is more "normal" than "exclusive" like in the US.
That's the motto of our company and our club. But sometimes it drives me crazy. Do you remember Violette, the girl I put out of the club a few months ago for unfair upselling? The trick is that due to the "second chance" rule, she was only banned for two months. After two months, she could come back after discussing the situation with us. If we saw that she had changed her perspective and promised not to do it again, she would get a second chance. So that's what she didβshe came back, admitted how foolish she was, and now she's back. I highly doubt she will actually change her behaviour, but we will see... She might surprise me.
πΊπΈ π The US Brothels β Answering Your Questions ππΊπΈ
The first post about US brothels got some of you asking interesting questions that I thought would be worth sharing. Here are four of them:
π΄ Why are they so remote? Not all counties in Nevada allow brothels. According to US law, brothels must be in areas with fewer than 400,000 inhabitants and far away from schools and churches. As a result, they canβt be located in the centre of Las Vegas and are often found in remote locations due to this mandatory exclusion. Because they are so far away, they need to be self-sufficient, offering everything that the workers and customers might need.
π΄ What about safety? Since they are legal and must undergo various inspections like any other business, these establishments tend to be safe. Sheriffs can come for inspections at any time, and the owners themselves want to avoid any trouble that could harm their reputation and drive away customers. Both customers and workers are generally safe. There is an interesting video called "Vegas' Dark Side," where a former sex worker who used to work on the streets talks about the business, which is definitely more dangerous than legal establishments.
π΄ Can I just hang out there without going to a room with a girl? In some brothels, you can just sit at the bar, have a drink, and hang out either by yourself or with a group of friends without needing to go to a room with a girl. Some clubs are appointment-only, meaning that unless you have a booking, you can't stay there. You can find out the type of club from their websites.
π΄ What if I want to open my own brothel? I loved this question:). If you want to start a business in Nevada, I have bad news for you. The state issues licenses, and a few years ago, they decided not to issue any new ones. Current holders can keep theirs, but new entrants to the business cannot receive a license. Additionally, when a current holder decides to transfer their license, it is not possible, and it becomes invalid. So if you have aspirations about joining the industry, I would suggest relocating to the EU, as it is much simpler there.
Yesterday, a client came to me complaining that one of our girls stole some money from him while he was in the shower. It was a small amount, like 100 euros, but significant nonetheless. This is always a tough situation because, of course, no girl would ever admit to stealing. So naturally, she denied it. It was her word against his, with no clear resolution in sight.
In this case, she even swore to God that she hadn't stolen anything. Imagine my shock when later that night, a Nigerian girl approached me and confessed: "You know, Kate, about that client yesterday... I'm so sorry, but I actually stole it. I feel incredibly ashamedβI just couldn't help myself. Times are tough, and I made a terrible mistake."
This is the dilemma I face. I don't want someone in our club who has stolen from a client. However, if I were to dismiss her now, I would be disregarding her honesty and confession. Does she deserve a second chance?
Some people don't believe me when I say how much money the best girls in our business are making - around 40-50 thousand euros per month. Well, then calculate with me. They charge a client 100 euros per half an hour. These girls are able to easily have twenty clients per night... You know, clients pay for half an hour but mostly it's just quicker, so it's not really half an hour :). And these girls can work up to 25 days a month... So, 100 euros x 20 clients x 25 days... is 50,000 euros... minus the rent that the girls are paying to the club. Which is about 5,000 euros a month. So, 45k euros is their clean income. A lot of money, isn't it? :)
π The Power of Competition in the Sex Industry π
When we talk about what helps the sex work industry the most, there are a few things to consider. Various entities, including governments, non-profit organizations, police, and medical professionals, influence the industry through their policies, interventions, and support services. These influences can yield both positive and negative outcomes, depending on their approaches. But from where I stand, the biggest help comes from competition and the free market.
Competition drives clubs to strive for excellence. As club owners, our primary goal is to attract the most customers, as they bring in revenue. By offering top-notch services, we draw in high-spending clientele. Consequently, the best girls in the industry will want to work in our club, knowing they can earn really good money. This competition not only benefits us but also creates a desirable environment for both workers and customers.
Moreover, competition also encourages clubs to improve. When a rival club offers something new, like free accommodation or hairdresser, we have to step up our game to keep up. This means better conditions and incentives for girls. Ultimately, it is the workers themselves who benefit from this competitive environment.
On the flip side, clubs that mistreat their workers or offer bad conditions struggle to survive in this competitive environment. Unfair fees, unethical behavior, or disrespectful treatment towards workers lead to a loss of reputation and clientele. People won't go where they're treated poorly. So, clubs that don't treat their workers or customers right don't last long.
So, while governments and others can help or hurt the sex work industry, competition is the real driving force for positive change. It pushes clubs to take care of their workers and create a safer, better environment for everyone. That's why I believe competition is the key to making things better in the sex work industry.
πΏ Recommendation for a sexy/educational/funny movie - The Little Death (2014)πΏ
One of my friends recommended this movie to me years ago, and when I saw it for the first time, I immediately knew it would be one of my favourites. It consists of five different life stories revolving around people in romantic relationships who are opening up to or discovering their fetishes and kinks. Some of these are very unusual and lead them to very bizarre situations :). This is hands down one of the best movies, so if you decide to watch it, let me know what you think
I am so pissed off tonight. One of your best girls was crying in my office. She is making about 50k euros a month. Tonight she confessed to me that she broke up with her boyfriend recently. Guess what? The whole time (about six years), she was coming home with the money, and he was managing all this moneyβbuying cars, houses, apartments... all in his name, of course. Now that they've broken up, she has nothing. All the money, everything, stays with him. Just like that. The guy was living a luxury life for six years and didn't do anything for it. Now he's rich, and she's starting from zero. I'm not sure if I'm more upset about him or her. Why are girls so stupid? He wasn't threatening her; there was no violence, nothing. She was just in love. My God.
Tonight's complaint was funny and also presented a dilemma. The guy paid for half an hour with one of our girls. He complained they didn't have any sex. The girl said to me, 'Of course we didn't. He was drinking and he was nervous, so he didn't get hard. I was trying my best, but it just didn't work.' So I told the guy, 'Well, since you didn't get an erection due to alcohol consumption, it's not her fault.' To which he replied, 'Well, isn't it her job to make me aroused to the point where I have an erection?' Well, in a way, he was right. Since the dawn of time, courtesans were responsible for arousing a client. If you can't make it, you're not doing a good job... On the other hand, if you can't sleep in a hotel because you suffer from insomnia, would you also blame the hotel owner? It's a really tricky question...
Well, the answer is simple. We let the invisible hand of the market do the job. I mean, we try to give the chance to almost anybody. Not because we're so humanistic (of course we are!), but mainly because we actually don't know who is going to be successful. Many times I've been surprised by the success of a very average girl and, on the other hand, the failure of a porn-star look-alike girl. You never know. So our system is actually very capitalistic β the market decides. If a girl isn't good enough, she won't make enough money to pay the rent for the room. If she is successful, she can afford to pay the rent.
Recently, I was asked about the essential characteristics that every girl working in our brothel needs to have. Well, it boils down to three key traits: Patience, empathy, and multiple oral skills - and by that, I mean proficiency in speaking at least a few different languages ;)))
Interesting news from our club. Recently, we finally managed to enter the 21st century as a sex club β we installed terminals in the girlsβ rooms so now clients can pay for the girls' services by credit card directly to their account. It wasn't easy β you can imagine not every payment gateway provider is eager to cooperate with an erotic club. But we did itβ¦ But there is almost zero interest from clients. They still prefer paying in cash. The first thing that comes to mind is privacy. They don't want payments from a brothel showing up on their bank account statement. Of course, we've addressed this β on their account, they will see nothing indicating the name of our club, etc. It will appear as something like 'gastro services'. So why do they still prefer to pay in cash? I have no idea. They use cards for payments everywhere these days β bars, restaurants, shops, even taxis or hairdressers. But when it comes to erotic services, they are still very conservative. Any idea why this is so?
The conflict with Violette really made me think about how stupid some of our girls can be. She knew she had been in trouble before. She knew I might put her out. As the manager, I never actually tell the girls what they should do β whether they should give back the money to the clients when he is complaining and it was her fault... So if she had said to the client, "Sorry, I made a mistake, here is half of the money back" everything would have been fine. She would have stayed in the club. So, for 150 euros, she lost a job where she was making 50k per month. When she realized that, it was too late. There were a lot of tears and emotions. She planned to buy her third flat in her country next month β but I guess that is not happening now. She even tried to bribe me with some money to let her stay in our club. Not a chance. It made me even more angry. I don't wish her anything bad in the future, but I don't wish any client to pay for a girl's service like this one either π«
π Problems with one of our girls - Violette π
Today, I had to be a really bad manager. I had to dismiss one of our most successful girls from the club β Violette. She usually makes about 50k euros per month. However, she also had a lot of clients' complaints over the years. Violette and I had many discussions about this, and I really tried to help her and find a way to support her in changing her attitude. So...A normally polite guy complained that she charged him 300 euros for a one-hour service (which is already slightly too much, but okay) but kicked him out of the room after 30 minutes. I had a debate with both of them at the same time: The client: I paid you 300 euros for one hour, right? She: No, it was just for half an hour. He: 300 for half an hour? Really? She: Yes. 150 was for half an hour, and 150 for extra service. He: What extra service do you mean? We just had a cigarette, I took a shower, and then you gave me a little bit of blowjob. And after that, you told me I ran out of my time so I needed to pay more. She: Well, the extra service includes 69, licking, and a special handjob. He: What? I told you right at the beginning I didn't want any of these. I just wanted the standard service. I didn't want this, and on top of that, I didn't even receive it. Me: Violette, is it true he didn't ask for any extra service? She: Yes, it's true. He told me he didn't want any of these extras. Me: So why did you charge him for that? She: Wellβ¦ he had the option to receive them. It's not my fault he didn't want it. If he wanted it, he could have had it. Me: Seriously?? So the client paid for the opportunity to have some extra service that he claimed he is not interested in at all? She: Yes. What's wrong with it? Me: EVERYTHING!!! That was it. After countless problems and conflicts with various clients, this was the last straw. And today was her last day in the club.
πΌ Back to business πΌ It's my first day in the office after the holiday. Some of the Nigerian girls were making fun of me, saying that finally, I am one of them due to my darker skin from the sun :)). We also have A LOT of new girls. This is the 'hardest' part of the job sometimes β you need to be able to memorise names and faces quickly. When I started working here, I wasn't good with names at all. Keep in mind that most of the girls are from Romania or Bulgaria, so their names are quite different. On top of that, sometimes, due to all the botox, fillers, and operations, the girls look very similar... So you can't really pick out a single trait that differentiates them from each other. But now, I've trained my memory in a way that when somebody introduces themselves to me, I immediately remember their name. However, with our business, there is one little trickery... Because when you finally remember which face belongs to which name, the girl takes off her makeup, and you're back to the same problem because you have no idea who they are :))
So, this is the story of how I fucked up our booking, and we ended up yesterday without any accommodation. If you're in the mood for a laugh, this one's for you. If not, scroll down for some sexy pictures. π
I woke up quite early yesterday and decided to use the time for some pilates before heading to breakfast. The rest of our group joined me for breakfast, and while I was finishing my meal, one of the receptionists approached our table, asking about the check-out. I assumed she wanted to sort everything out a few days ahead since we leave on the 14th of March. However, to my surprise, she asked me about our departure time for the day. "What do you mean TODAY? We are staying here until the 14th of March."
To make a long story short, I had messed up the reservation β I somehow forgot the date of our departure. But that wasn't the worst part. The real problem came when we discovered there were no available rooms in the hotel or any other nearby hotels with reasonable prices. We began quickly searching for alternative accommodations while packing our stuff so the hotel could prepare the rooms for next guests. In the end, we found a large villa hosted by a private owner that was just big enough for the whole group. I hadn't had any expectations, thinking it was only for four days and that we found it so quickly it might not be great. However, when we arrived, it looked surprisingly good and was not far from the beach. To top it off, we had our own pool. So, I guess this little fuck-up wasn't so bad after all, and at least we had a bit of adrenaline. π
Yesterday's trip was amazing! We ended up on an abandoned beach, so I took these pictures so you will be able to enjoy part of my dolphin trip as well :))
The weather wasn't so great, so it was a perfect opportunity for me to write some longer educational posts. If you're not in the mood for reading, scroll down for my sexy photo from our private beach. How did you guys learn about sex in school? I would like to draw upon the thoughts of my favourite therapist and researcher in the field of sexuality, Leonore Tiefer. She argues that when we learn about sex, we only learn about the natural side of it. Our textbooks are filled with descriptive images of penises and women's sexual organs. We know about the reproductive cycle, how fast sperm can travel, and approximately how many eggs a fertile woman has. But we don't learn about pleasure, the various ways to engage in sexual activities, or the possibilities and varieties. Leonore compares this to when someone starts to play the guitar. They don't learn about the muscles in the hand or the brain centres that function when they play the guitar. They start by learning about rhythms, how to hear and understand the music, how to play easy tones, and how to connect them. We focus on the desirable outcome β we start learning how to play a musical instrument because we want to play or create music. It's the same with sex. However, opposite to teaching how to play an instrument, with sex, we start with biology and don't even talk about pleasure and various sensations. So, I am curious β how was your sexual education in school?
