Fun fact round two: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. let’s talk about….constipation. I struggled with this for YEARS - and I know im not the only one who struggles with it. wanna know the one thing that keeps me regular? are you ready? Salt. I have a couple of rocks of Himalayan pink salt in the morning and im good to go! I also take magnesium before bed which helps a lot too. Make sure your salt isn’t processed though! The salt you get the grocery store that is “iodized” is NOT good for you. Sure, it has iodine but that shit is processed as helllll (please see my last post about processed food…) it’s so unnatural and can cause damage to your body! If you’re worried about iodine, eat seafood like salmon, oysters, and seaweed. Make sure to buy mineral salt (my favorite is Redmond Salt.) Or pink salt. Sea salt is fine I just worry bout the plastics in it so I stay away. Plastic is a topic for another post…lol Another cool fact about salt is it helps with hydration! We’ve been told for sooooo long that the more salt you eat, the more dehydrated you get. While that might be the case with this processed salt mentioned above, it’s not the same for high-quality salt. Read the book The Salt Fix by Dr. James DiNicolantonio It explains this in greater detail :) but trust me on this one,

alright folks, let’s talk about the good stuff for the first..

alright folks, let’s talk about the good stuff for the first fact of today: . . . . . . . . . . The good stuff being SUGAR, glucose, and insulin. I’ve worn a continuous glucose monitor for going on three months now so you don’t have to :D well, you do if you have insulin resistance and issues with your bloood sugar but I wore mine to get a better look at what’s going on with body. I’ve compiled a list of trends I’ve noticed that both help my levels and cause damage. I’ve also made up a little guide for you to follow when you’re looking at your own body that I can send to you if you send me $20 cuz it took me two hours to write out and organize :D The basics: ⟡ Eat your carbs in the morning. Your body can digest them better. Which means your body is prepared to handle the glucose spike. Not so much at night. I could eat the same amount of carbs in the am vs the pm (I’ve done this experiment on myself) and each time, my glucose goes CRAZY high in the pm but not the am.) timing matters. ⟡ Don’t eat when the sun is down, your body can’t process food while it’s trying to shut off. ⟡ The more processed the food, the higher your insulin will spike and the longer it will take to come back down. Aim for a whole foods diet. ⟡ Glucose spikes aren’t bad, we need insulin to function. But spikes that last HOURS is when you’re in trouble. A spike that hits 130 but then comes right back down is normal, which means you’re metabolically healthy. A spike that takes all night to come back down? Means something is up. If you ever buy a CGM, notice the area under the curve. The more space, the more this means you need to get your shit together holmes! And guess what? Insulin resistance, diabetes, all that jazz can be REVERSED IN SEVEN DAYS. seven. You can’t go back to your ways, obviously, but don’t listen to people when they tell you you’ll have this condition forever. It’s wrong. My glucose levels were insane all of July. My avg is now 75. I went hardcore carnivore most days for about a month and boom, I’m back to normal. It can be done. ⟡ Quantity matters. I can have a couple of berries and I’m good but if I let my desires trump my health and eat the entire box of blueberries, holy. shit. It’s madness. ⟡ If you pair fat with your carbs it ~can~ help stunt your glucose levels. So eating helllla eggs or cheese before eating some carbs can help it. I’ve noticed that ice cream (if it hasn’t been processed like crazy) won’t spike my BS as high because it’s pretty high in fat content already. ah, the end of august 2020. i promise you i’m not usually THIS sentimental, august is just a really impactful month to me. how much can change in 365 days is absolutely crazy. i don't have a mini-goal for the end of this month because we hit all my personal goals for the first time since opening my page. august was legendary, thank you so much for being a part of it. i wanted to share with you a picture of where i was EXACTLY one year ago (2nd pic) compared to what I look like now (1st pic) i’ve also attached a journal entry from this time august 30th, 2019. my goals for therapy were to stop letting my circumstances keep me from thriving my very best. And some of the words to the right read: “There is a sense of hopelessness that I need help with. That my dreams are too big. My past too iffy. Im too scared to live in some places. Scared to leave someone who isn’t good for me. Just all around hopeless and scared. I also hold this mentality that everything is worth work…everything but my life. A failed relationship? I would’ve put anything into saving it (but not put work into saving my own life.) Why? I also don’t think I like myself. I thought I did, but with recent events, I don’t think that I do. I thought that liking how I looked meant I liked myself. Or eating well, really well. Or going to the gym. I thought these all meant that I loved myself. But I’m thinking it’s deeper than that. It’s going to be harder than just doing my makeup to feel pretty.” august 2019: I had just left an abusive partner. I had to move back in with my parents. I was so broke from moving myself and all my belongings across the country twice, belongs that I didn’t end up getting back until november. and I was aggressively becoming sicker and sicker. i was sick, without my things to comfort me, broke, and severely depressed. august 2020: top 0.45%, in my own place, healing my autoimmunity, healing my trauma, becoming more spiritual, following my dreams of becoming a photog, connecting more with my community instead of trying to force myself to fit into the vanilla world (self-acceptance), combating fear, and learning how to use my voice. oh, and i like myself today. i liked myself yesterday. and i might just like myself tomorrow. not to be dramatic or whatever but this is all because of you guys. it’s me, i’m def putting in the work but you guys lifted me to a spot where I could comfortably do the hard work. a place to where I feel SAFE to do the hard work. i’m able to heal and follow my dreams because of your support. so thanks for being here. thanks for august. so so so so much love ♡ see you in september ⟡ xoxo z
